So there’s been a whole lot of talk about Suit & Tie…
Are we surprised with the lack of sales for this single? I mean, yes, we all respect JT but are we surprised? He hasn’t released an album in 6 years, but hasn’t remained far from our TV and movie screens. And if you’ve missed Justin Timberlake’s music, he’s given us his collabs with Lonely Island to suffice. So unless you’re Outcast and your last album was a FUCKING MASTERPIECE, a musical comeback isn’t gonna rock the world. Second, why the fuck is everyone hating on Hov’s verse? His lyrics (for those who bother with them) are perfect for the song. Putting Jay-Z on this record broadens the audience. Let’s all face it- Pop music is now dominated by the tween scene. Of course Justin needs to segue into R&B and blue-eyed soul and luckily he can. And I’m no Timbaland fan, but damn. The instrumental is literally a work of art.
Anyway, my point is- JT’s comeback isn’t going to be that of Pretty Ricky’s, (Jk) But along with Timbo, he’s reminding us who brought sexy back. And for that we are thankful.
“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.”
